So this is it! My new blog! I'm not sure how this is going to go and you may find that I'm really nothing to read about but I hope to share my experiences with everyone on building furniture.
Like many others, I got started by devouring everything I could find on Ana-White.com. She is amazing! I'm so impressed with her and all that she does. I hope to someday be able to collaborate on a project with her and have that association with her. I would REALLY love to meet her! It's sad to maybe say this out loud to myself, but I actually have dreamed about meeting her! I dream about driving around in remote Alaska and "stumbling" upon her well photographed home and being so excited to be there. She always has a ton of things going on and actually asks me for my help to get them done! YES, I have a slight crush on Ms. White! :-) It's all innocent, it's a builders crush! I'm mostly amazed at how she can build all these wonderful things and still look amazing! She always looks put together. Most of the time I'm out in my garage sweating away in my rattiest t-shirt, holey shorts and flip-flops (no I don't wear work boots and most of the time I do just fine!). She's also still a mom to a young girl and a wife to her Real Alaska Man... I struggle most days just to get dinner on the table when I've been out working!
Anyway - I got my ideas from her and built my first project over a year ago - a media center that has been pinned over 100 times on Pinterest - with building tips from her site and my beloved Kreg Jig. The design was my own but all the inspiration came from Ana! Needless to say that was only the beginning and ever since, I've been building for others, for myself, for family and friends. It's been amazing and very very fulfilling!
My goal here is to try and encourage others like Ana has to just get out and try it. Follow the plans that she has, come up with your won like I have. You CAN do it, you just have to believe you can and get out there and do it!
My other goal is to try and post as much information as I can on other projects I've built, share some tips with you on construction methods, choosing wood for projects, finishing tips and tricks. I am by no means a know it all - far from it - but I like to share what I have figured out in hopes that I can save you time, money and cuts and bruises - especially the latter!!! :-( I'll be adding project pictures and tips from previous projects soon, why I chose now to start a blog is beyond me because my work load is fairly busy right now, but have some patience with me, I'll get it all posted as quick as I can!
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the web and I hope to see you back here! :-)

ReplyDeleteNavigating things like this is a little bit of a challenge with the iPad. I meant it to be a reply. So... I moved my blog to my website so everything was all in the same place, however...I don't really like the new one that much...not as user friendly. Anyway, my website is www.simply-designed.us if you wanna stop by check it out!
